Corolla family beach house - 4 bedrooms 3.5 baths, private pool w/ocean and lighthouse views

A beautiful & cozy cottage at the end of the Corolla pavement before tires hit the 4x4 beaches. Well-suited for up to two families or as a stress-free couple’s getaway. Pet-friendly.

Location, location, location… you’ll have ocean, lighthouse & gorgeous sunset views from our decks. Beach access is just a quick walk away… about 5 minutes. We have a private pool (heat included in April, May, September and October) and a hot tub located on the upper deck to enjoy & relax under the stars. Four wheel drive vehicle is NOT required to access the property.

Our community is called The Villages at Ocean Hill and provides oceanfront and sound-side pools, a fitness center, a PICKLEBALL court, playground, basketball, sand volleyball and tennis courts. We are located east of route 12 north, just before the access ramp onto the 4x4 beaches.

Note: Anyone with a 4WD vehicle can drive up the beach. If you’d like to park/tailgate on the beach for the day you can purchase weekly passes at the Corolla Visitor Center or online.

For 2024 our private heated pool is open and available from March 31 to November 2. We set temperature at 85° in April, May, September and October. The ambient temperature affects the overall temperature. The cost of pool heat is built into the rates.

House details:
Ground Level: Carport, enclosed outdoor shower, park grill, private heated pool, 10 x 19 kennel area. Security cameras, located in the carport facing the street for safety.

Mid-level: Main entrance, 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, laundry area. There is the ability to create 2 primary king bedrooms and the queen and bunk rooms would then use the hall full bath. Deck access from all bedrooms and ocean side deck has a ceiling for increased usability.

Top-level: Living area with TV, ships watch, deck with ocean/sound/lighthouse views, kitchen, dining area, 1 half-bath, screened porch, hot tub on top level deck.
WIFI is provided, and all televisions are equipped for streaming and there is a Golden Dunes Netflix account.

The kitchen is well-equipped, with new appliances and most everything you might want to prepare fun family meals after the beach.

Linens and bath towels are provided, please bring your own beach towels.

This house is owner-managed with regular improvements and updates. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any additional questions.

Getting around

Corolla is off the beaten path and accessing Corolla requires a car or a long, expensive cab / Uber from Norfolk International Airport. Should you want to drive on the Northern Beaches a 4x4 is required. Uber and Corolla Cab are also available for transport around town, if you desire. Our dream to own a home on OBX became a reality in 2020 when we purchased Golden Dunes, formerly Windancer. We used a property management company for the 2021 season, but decided to self manage beginning with the 2022 season, as I have recently retired and have the time and desire to put into self managing.

I live near Annapolis, Maryland with my husband, daughter and 3 golden retrievers. I plan to begin breeding my goldens in 2023, another long time dream of mine. You may have guessed, the name Golden Dunes it a bit of a play on words.

I look forward to sharing our home with you and hope that you and your dogs find Corolla to be as magical as we do.

We are dog friendly and welcome 3 dogs and will consider additional dogs when requested. We have an outdoor kennel area, crates and gates. Dogs are not permitted in the pool.

Payment Policy
50% down at time of booking with payment in full 60 days before stay begins. Payment plans can be arranged by messaging host.
Refundable Damage Deposit
By booking, guest agrees to pay security deposit prior to check in. Booking guest acknowledges that access to property will be denied until deposit is paid in full or reservation is forfeited without refund. Payment is collected via Houfy and is potentially fully refundable if all rules are honored and no excessive mess or damage is found. Inspections will occur after check out by the cleaners and a determination will be made regarding the condition of the home. If there is damage, missing items or excessive cleaning that needs to be completed the costs will be withheld from the security deposit. Refund is dependent upon ALL guests in the group honoring all House Rules, and is initiated after check out and after all payments have cleared and any needed resolutions made. Our hope is to provide a full deposit refund because the stay went smoothly.

Cancellation Policy
For full refund, cancellations must be received in writing 30 days before arrival. Tenant is responsible for verifying that the owner has received the cancellation letter. Within 30 days, there will be no refund of payment on confirmed reservations until the canceled period is fully re-rented and confirmed for the same rental amount. Tenant will be responsible for any discounts extended to re-rent the property if within 30 days of check-in. Once re-rented, all payments will be refunded except as noted.
Please note: Nonpayment of any deposits or balances due may result in a reservation cancellation. Tenants are strongly encouraged to secure vacation insurance.
